How does the Auto Match work?
Starting conditions
So how exactly does the Auto Match work? Let us go through the basics! Let’s say you have a CRM in monday.com containing different boards such as contacts, opportunities, accounts, etc. Whenever you type in any new information into any of these boards, the add-on will make sure you aren’t creating any duplicates and instead link the information to the related item. But how does the add-on check the information?
Company name check
The Auto Match goes through a series of information sources in order to match correctly. The first source of information is the company name. Are there any contacts with the same company name? If so, the add-on will connect the new contact to the others.
Website name check
If the Auto Match can’t find any company name for the new contact or if it doesn’t match any previous ones, it’ll look for the website name and through this match the new contact with the correct company.
Email domain check
The last source of information that the Auto Match will go through if the previous ones didn’t lead to any matches is the email domain. If the email domain matches any previous contacts then the new contact will be connected to the same company.
No match
Lastly, if the Auto Match couldn’t find any matches based on any of the information sources, it’ll most likely mean that it’s a completely new contact from a company that isn’t already in your CRM. When this happens, your new contact will be inserted without any connections.
